About Us
We are an amateur Big Band based near Kidderminster, Worcestershire, formed in 2004
We perform under the direction of Nigel Beer, our superb Musical Director. Our repertoire comprises a wide variety of Jazz and Swing classics from the 1930s to the present day. There’s something for all tastes, including well-known favourites from legends Glenn Miller and Count Basie. Our vocalist Julie Knight brings to life the magic of the era. The band is available to book for concerts, parties, celebrations, corporate events, ballroom and social dance evenings

Rehearsals
We are now settled at Winterfold School near Hartlebury, Kidderminster, where we rehearse twice a month on a Tuesday. We always welcome enquiries to join us

Style of Music we play
You might have heard or remember the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington? The Crown Phoenix Big Band recreates the sounds of those and many other great swing bands. The range of music we play is wide and varied - from traditional Big Band music to other modern dance music.

Keeping Big Band Music alive in Worcestershire !
Big Band Music is still very active across the world and we are lucky that composers, arrangers and big stars are still actively involved in this genre of music. Artists such as Michael Buble, Gordon Goodwin and Robbie Williams, for example, all perform this style of music. Such artists have opened up Big Band music to younger generations to enjoy. We are proud to still be making music in Worcestershire!
Maintaining a full Big Band
The normal line up of the band consists of 5 Saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 Trombones, Piano, Bass, Guitar, Drums and our fantastic Vocalist. We always welcome enquiries to join us, please use the contact form. Our music charts are a joy to play, we have arrangements that suit all competent players.
